Where Craftsmanship Meets Equine Comfort

German-crafted stalls built for safety, strength, and longevity

Horse stalls — or loose boxes, as they’re known across Australian stables — are more than just somewhere you keep your horses. They’re their home. The space where they rest, recover, and spend the bulk of every day. That’s why the quality of the materials, the precision of the construction, and the attention paid to safety and comfort aren’t optional extras. They’re the whole point.

Euro Equine is the Australian distributor for Röwer & Rüb horse stable stalls, handcrafted in Germany since 1867, with a level of quality that is immediately visible and built to last for decades. Every loose box in the range is manufactured by a certified specialist welding company using specially developed C-profiles and a circumferential, fully-welded frame construction that withstands the highest loads. The use of bamboo at critical contact points — resistant to kicking and biting, and unlike timber, it will not splinter — along with stainless steel fittings throughout, means these are stalls that continue to look and perform at their best long after lesser products have needed replacement.

The range covers everything from complete stable fronts, stall panels, and horse stall doors — available as sliding doors, barn doors, or hinged configurations — through to internal dividers, kick boards, and rubber stable mats. Nine named models, from the classic Hamburg and Hannover to the open, contemporary Berlin and curved Amsterdam, are available as modular systems in hot-dip galvanised steel, powder-coated steel in any RAL colour, or elegant stainless steel. Whether you’re fitting out a full stable block, replacing existing stall panels and partitions, or designing a custom loose box from the ground up, every configuration can be tailored to your exact requirements.

Materials, Construction & What Sets These Stalls Apart

The quality of a Röwer & Rüb horse stall isn’t just in how it looks — it’s in how it’s built. Every loose box is manufactured by a certified specialist welding company using specially developed C-profiles and a circumferential, fully-welded frame — the same construction whether you’re specifying a modular galvanised stall panel system or a fully custom stainless steel loose box.

This means maximum structural integrity under the kind of load that horses generate daily — kicking, leaning, rubbing. The engineering goes where you can’t see it, which is exactly where it matters most.

Hot-Dip Galvanised Steel

  • Long-lasting protection against rust and corrosion
  • Develops a distinctive natural patina over time
  • The most practical choice for high-use or outdoor-exposed environments

Powder-Coated Steel

  • Available in any RAL colour – bring your stable’s design vision to life
  • Colourfast, smooth finish that’s easy to clean and maintain
  • Popular choice for stables where visual identity matters

Stainless Steel

  • Exceptionally easy to clean – still looks new after years of daily use
  • The premium material choice for prestige facilities
  • Highly corrosion-resistant, including in coastal Australian environments

Bamboo

  • Used at kick and bite contact points where timber would splinter
  • Significantly more resistant to impact than standard timber boarding
  • Doesn’t degrade into sharp hazards under repeated horse contact

Stainless Steel Fittings

  • All critical fittings – hinges, latches, hardware – in stainless steel as standard
  • Rung spacing of 50mm minimises hoof trapping risk
  • Adjustable, strong pivot hinges with rounded lugs to prevent injury
  • Standard built-in bolt for overnight security on all stall models

Röwer & Rüb’s own quality standards exceed DIN norms. This isn’t compliance – it’s a genuine commitment to product performance that you’ll see and feel every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big should a horse stall be?

Stall size should be based on your horse’s breed and exercise needs. Röwer & Rüb base their sizing recommendations on the German Equestrian Federation (FN) guidelines, which calculate minimum floor space as (2 x wither height)². As a practical guide: a 160cm wither height horse needs a minimum of 3.2m x 3.2m, while 168cm warmbloods or larger sport horses typically require 3.6m x 3.6m or more. Euro Equine can advise on the right sizing for your specific horses – contact us to discuss.

A horse spends the majority of its life in its stall. The quality of that environment – the safety of its surfaces, the stability of its structure, the ventilation – directly affects horse health, behaviour, and longevity. Röwer & Rüb stalls are engineered beyond DIN standards, with rounded and deburred components, bamboo at impact points, and 50mm rung spacing to minimise injury risk. Eva Möller’s experience is typical: stalls still performing at top standard 20 years after installation, with stallions under high daily pressure. That’s what genuine quality delivers over time.

Röwer & Rüb horse stalls are available in three material options. Hot-dip galvanised steel is the most robust choice for high-use or outdoor-exposed environments – it develops a natural patina and provides long-term corrosion protection. Powder-coated steel offers the same structural strength in any RAL colour, ideal for stables with a specific visual identity. Stainless steel is the premium option – exceptionally easy to clean and still looks new after years of use, making it ideal for prestige facilities or coastal locations. All three use the same C-profile welded frame construction and stainless steel hardware throughout.

Yes – extensively. Röwer & Rüb offer nine named stall models in a wide range of design styles, each available in multiple material and colour combinations. Beyond that, dimensions, door configurations, fittings, kick board heights, accessories, and material combinations can all be specified individually. Röwer & Rüb’s manufacturing uses flexible production technology specifically to accommodate almost any brief. Use the online configurator to explore options, or contact Euro Equine for a personalised consultation.

Yes. The Röwer & Rüb modular system is designed to be extended – additional bays can be added to an existing installation without needing to replace existing components. If your herd grows or your facility expands, the system grows with you. Euro Equine can advise on extension options and component compatibility at any stage.
Lead times vary depending on the model, level of customisation, and current production schedule. Standard configurations typically have shorter lead times than fully bespoke specifications. Euro Equine will provide a clear timeline at the quoting stage. We recommend starting the enquiry and specification process as early as possible – particularly for larger facilities or complex custom briefs – to avoid delays to your build programme.
